As Twitter continues to grow, so do the lists of friends (or “followings”) and followers people are accumulating. We’ve had a few people run into a limit in our Twellow search that prevented people with large numbers of friends and followers from searching within those lists.

Search FriendsWith this in mind we’ve analyzed our systems and increased the limit to 524,288. This number should cover the vast majority of our users. For those with more followers or friends than this, we’ll keep an eye on system performance to see if this limit can be increased in the future.

Happy Searching!

With the capital states of the United States(District of Columbia) and Australia(Australian Capital Territory) being so difficult to find on our TwellowHood map, Lead Developer Matthew Daines has made it easier to locate these important landmarks.

On TwellowHood, when a user selects the United States or Australia, a small identifier will appear with a link to the country’s specific capital as shown below:

United States:

Australia:

With this in mind, we have also added an identifier for the state of Rhode Island on the United States, because this too is a difficult state to locate and access on the TwellowHood map.

We hope that this helps you find people that matter within these areas mentioned above.

First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Chad, and I work as support for Twellow. For the majority of my life, I lived in and grew up in Australia. With this premise, ever since TwellowHood was first launched, it has been my goal to see a region added for Australia.

Lead programmer/developer Matthew Daines and I have been working diligently to make an Australian-dedicated feature possible so that Aussies can find other Twitter users with common interests, based on their geographic location. With this said, on behalf of Twellow, I would like to present TwellowHood: Australia to you.

This new service includes the following Australian states and territories:

  • Australian Capital Territory
  • New South Wales
  • Northern Territory
  • Queensland
  • South Australia
  • Tasmania
  • Victoria
  • Western Australia

We hope that you enjoy this new feature, and also hope that this helps you find other fellow Aussies that matter on Twitter.

Now that Twellow has grown to over a thousand categories, we’ve been looking at allowing Twellow users to search those categories. We’ve just implemented a feature on search results pages that shows any categories that might match your search terms. This should make it easier to find profiles that you are interested in, as well as being able to see if we have a category that matches your interests without needing to scan our entire list of categories on our “All Categories” page. This will make Twellow easier to use and understand for a lot of people.

A big positive to using Twitter is being able to connect with people who share common interests. But it can also be overwhelming to be following hundreds or thousands of poeple, with a lot of them not offering the value you are looking for. It can also be critical that you know who might be following you without your realizing. That’s why we’ve introduced the “Non-Mutuals” feature of Twellow’s Friends and Followers tabs. (more…)

recommended_profiles For some time now we’ve been working on ideas to help people who don’t have the top spots in the battle for followers counts to get noticed. We’ve come up with a new Twellow feature that spotlights people who have been deemed worthy of a follow, but might not be at the top of the list. (more…)

new_twellowWe here at Twellow like to make things work. And we also listen to what our users are saying. With this in mind we set out to create a better Twellow experience from the user point of view, and the result of all our “thinkering” and tinkering is a newer, cleaner look for Twellow. (more…)

One of the things we often read people commenting on is the difficulty in managing followers and followings for Twitter. Twellow has introduced a few new features that will help in sifting through your followers and those whom you follow. And we’ve also added a slight change to our interface to make finding our most used Twellow features easier.

Just a short little notice here to let our Twellow users know about a little Twellow addition. We’ve gone ahead and taken the Enhanced Logins and made it just a little bit easier to see if you follow someone or someone follows you.

When you log in using Enhanced Mode each profile in the system now has a little icon under the Follow buttons to let you know if you are following them, if they are following you, if you both follow each other, or if nobody follows anybody! And if you don’t know what the symbols mean, just put your mouse over and you’ll get a pop-up letting you know exactly who is or is not following whom. Did you follow all that?

As Twellow has progressed one of it’s most valuable features is it assists in finding folks on Twitter whom our users want to be following. Up until now however it’s been a pretty slow process once a desired contact is found. Our users have had to click through to a user’s Twitter page and then submit the follow request from there. That’s all changed now.
